Silman voted against the appointment of Minister Kahana to the Ministry of Religions - in the first vote against the government since announcing in April her resignation from the coalition. Now, officials in her party say that in accordance with her further votes in the plenum, the move to declare her retired will also be considered.
The coalition knew that there was a high chance that Kahana's appointment would fall by a vote but insisted on holding the vote to allow the right to advance a move against Silman. The latter has been trying since the return of the Knesset for a long time to walk between the drops, and despite retiring from the coalition, has refrained from voting against the government - until tonight's vote for the reappointment of Kahana. Right-wingers say that no final decision has yet been made on the measures against Silman, but if sanctions are taken against her - the first move will be her removal from the chairmanship of the committee, in the coming days.
