IsraelDefense spoke with a Yasur helicopter pilot and his younger brother, a mighty F-35 pilot, about the family excitement on Independence Day, the enjoyment of the flight and also the connection to the heritage and memory of those who are no longer
From the oldest aircraft in the Air Force, from the Yasur helicopter, to the newest-newest aircraft, the 'mighty' F-35 stealth fighter. This is how it is in the family of the two brothers, Major Mill. R., a pilot in the 118 Squadron 'Yasur' helicopters, and his younger brother, Captain A., a 'mighty' pilot in the 140 Squadron, the first stealth squadron in the Air Force.
The family originated in a kibbutz in the north of the country. The two pilot brothers have a sister who was an armored officer in her military service. The late father of the family was an engineer and the mother, will be distinguished for a long life, a music teacher.
The eldest brother, Major R., completed a pilot course in combat helicopters. Squadron 160, staff position, instruction in flight school, and since his release he has been a reserve pilot in Squadron 118, Yasur. Once a week he reports to the Squadron for flying in Yasur helicopters to maintain fitness and for classic Yasur missions, evacuation, rescue and cooperation with other forces.
The younger brother, Captain A., grew up in a kibbutz in an atmosphere of flying and airplanes, due at a very young age to Cobra helicopters flown by his brother, and the road to a pilot course was natural. He completed a combat course, flew in the Barak F-16 Squadron, and for the past two years in the 140th Adir Squadron in Nevatim.
The two pilot brothers are not participating in the aerial flight over the State of Israel this year, but they will see it from below. Major R.: "Independence Day and Air Force planes have always been exciting events at home. I would take my son to a field near the kibbutz to get a better look at the aircraft they always talked about at home. The Air Force family is a family to be proud of. "
