Is the EU punishing Israel for its decision to support a ban imposed by Hungary on transferring aid to the Palestinian Authority? According to senior members of the Israeli delegation to Brussels - the answer is yes.

In recent weeks, Hungary has withheld €130 million in financial aid, which was transferred to the Palestinians, due to ongoing incitement in the education system. As early as April 2021, the EU Budget Review Committee adopted the Hungarian representative's position that the transfer of aid would be conditional on a change in the Palestinian curriculum.

Naturally, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported the conditional transfer of funds without a substantial change in the Palestinian education system.

Officials at the union have promised to prevent the convening of an association council between the EU and Israel, as long as the latter supports the delay in transferring funds to the Palestinians.
