Tehran reports that Admiral Bet'tlalah Debsler was killed "in action" in an operation, but did not disclose the circumstances and location of the incident that led to his death.
A senior Iranian naval commander was killed during an "operational operation," Iranian news agency Fares reported today (Saturday) in an official statement from the Iranian Ministry of Defense.
According to the report, the senior is a naval Admiral named Bet'tlalah Debsler and the announcement of his death stated that he "became a martyr while fulfilling his duty". However, no further details were given about the incident in which he was found dead and whether it is related to foreign reports of a warming in the secret struggle between Israel and Iran over its presence in the Red Sea.
Just over a week ago, Defense Minister Benny Gantz unveiled at the Economist conference in Athens unusual satellite images from recent months of four Iranian military ships in the Red Sea, indicating Iran's establishment. According to him, this is an "unusual and continuous presence that we have not seen at least in the last decade."
