"Don’t think that if the issue is resolved today, you will escape tomorrow"
In a press conference organized by the Minorities Democratic Party in Nagpur, India, prominent Indian Islamic scholar Mohammad Hamid Engineer, who serves as the National President of Imaan Tanzeem, spoke about the recent controversy sparked by Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, members of India’s ruling BJP party who made comments “insulting” the Prophet Muhammad, his wife Aisha, and Islam.
Engineer said: “To attack the Prophet Muhammad, and to attack his honor – there is only one consequence, and that is death. No one can stop you [from being killed] […] Don’t think that if the issue has been resolved today, you will escape [being killed] tomorrow.”
