In what was described as a contradiction in terms, the Ukrainian defense minister said on Saturday that his country did not need the Israeli Iron Dome system against missiles, contrary to statements made earlier by the Kyiv ambassador to Israel. But a short look at the systems doesn't fit what the Defense Minister claimed.
Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksie Reznikov said, on Saturday, before the Forbes summit, that the Iron Dome would not fit Ukraine. "Iron Dome does not protect against cruise missiles and ballistic missiles," he said.
This statement does not seem accurate since last August, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that the US military had conducted a "successful experiment" of the Iron Dome system against short-range missiles, with the participation of representatives of the Ministry and the Armament Development Company, "Raphael", in New Mexico.
