Report: A third Iranian oil tanker arrives in Lebanon
The Nziv Report 06.10.2021
The website of Tanker Trackers, a company that tracks oil shipments around the world, revealed on Wednesday that a third tanker carrying Iranian fuel destined for Lebanon had arrived in Syria.
The e-service said on its Twitter account that the third shipment of oil planned to reach Lebanon had arrived at the oil port in the Syrian coastal city of Banias.
Syria and Iran are subject to US sanctions.
Hezbollah, which is affiliated with Tehran, has begun bringing in fuel shipments coming from Iran, in a move that he says will alleviate the country's severe energy crisis.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said last month that Iranian fuel shipments brought by Hezbollah to the country represent "an infringement of Lebanese sovereignty."
And last month, a spokeswoman for the US State Department said that importing fuel from a country subject to widespread sanctions such as Iran is not a viable solution to the energy crisis in Lebanon.
