Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu issued an interesting statement on the possibility of cooperating with Israel in the field of natural gas. In his remarks this afternoon, he stated that the construction of a gas pipeline from Israel to Turkey "is not possible" in the short term. He further noted that creating a replacement for the supply of Russian gas to Europe would not be possible quickly.
The recent rapprochement between Israel and Turkey is explained by Ankara's desire to become a relevant player in the gas market after being isolated by the other players in the Mediterranean basin.
It should be noted that the Turkish Foreign Minister added that he will arrive in Israel together with the Minister of Energy in mid-May.
