Ayman Sharbati is a Palestinian terrorist who shot and murdered Israeli Gavriel Hirschberg and wounded another Israeli in the Old City of Jerusalem on Nov. 20, 1997. According to Palestinian Authority ideology that makes him “a hero.”
As Palestinian Media Watch has documented, for decades the PA has put murderers of Israelis on pedestals, praised and glorified them as role models, and rewarded them financially.
PA TV interviewed the two adult sons of murderer Sharbati who explained that growing up as the sons of the killer of an Israeli raised their status in society: They grew up “on dad’s good name,” as “sons of a hero” and were “treated accordingly.”
Moreover, they exemplified the by now deep-rooted conviction that growing up to become a murderer of Israelis/Jews is a fine and noble career path for Palestinians. Noting that his brother named his son after their father the murderer, one of the sons expressed the hope that the boy “will be a hero like him”
