Fear Not!: The story of 4 families who moved to the Gaza Strip despite the tensions in the south

Four families from different localities in the country, Ashkelon, Kiryat Gat, Bnei Ayish and Nahariya, decided to move to live in the Gaza Strip. , They say, but "pastoralism wins."

Yigal and Hadas Krihali-David arrived at the kibbutz three weeks ago with the three children from Ashkelon. As with anyone who comes to the area, there is always a concern about the security situation. "Anyone who does not think about the security situation is blind, We are aware of the dangers, but we adapt. It is a quality place to raise a family. It’s Amazing, " Hadas said.

According to Yigal, during the Corona period they "were looking for places, we went through the last round in Ashkelon, so there are proportions. We have a lot of fun here and we are fine with the quiet and without the pressure, no traffic jams, no roads"

Not far from Miguel and Hadas, Kitty Levy lives with her husband and their three children. She also arrived at Kibbutz Nirim after Operation Guardian of the Walls. "I did not hear an alarm here," she said. "We moved a month ago, we arrived from Kiryat Gat. Our concern was solely about the children from their adaptation and integration. The security situation is not just in the envelope, in the guard of the walls there were more kidnapped places. We enjoy the place very much, already at the entrance to the kibbutz "The security situation does sit at the top, we do not ignore it or reduce its value," she said. "We were looking for the added value of a community, moving here is a Zionist statement. I still think about what will happen during alarms who I will take first and then I realize we are not a holiday village. And yet, we recommend everyone to come and live here. Fear will not run us."

A few kilometers from Kibbutz Nirim, is Kibbutz Kissufim, where new residents boast. Bnei Hasson, the kibbutz's spokesman, said excitedly that until five years ago, there were five children from the kibbutz in the schools in the area. Today he is already talking about dozens of children.

"After the last war, we absorbed eight families plus there are four more families interested in absorption in the kibbutz. I think there is an element of Zionism and life here is good, there is a very high-quality community life and education system. A very supportive community."

Vered Gilour, her husband Elad and their two children, arrived in Kissufim after the operation ended. "The security situation does not scare me. I experienced the second intifada. If I radiate stress and fear to my children, then they will grow up in a reality of anxiety. No one sleeps here today with shackles."

Vered added that the family had come to the kibbutz a lot in the past. "We always dreamed of reaching the kibbutz and then we found Kissufim. We went to several kibbutzim in the envelope, and here we found the community we were looking for. My husband Elad insisted on reaching the Gaza envelope due to ideology and Zionism."

"There are noises of explosions from the moment we arrived," says Vered, but adds that "there was no alarm here. Bnei Ayish also had alarms and we know the issue."

Tal and Shuki Peer Danino have been in Kissufim for a year and they are considered veterans there. They had already managed to go through a round of war. "We arrived from Nahariya a year ago. I had concerns both because of the security situation and the distance from the families and we were looking for a community, and specifically a place where we only commit to a trial period."

"There are many good things in the kibbutz. We felt a change for the better in the quality of life. It was a terrible surprise that the security situation in the envelope bothered us less. "It was in the north and can be anywhere."

Do they really understand the danger of living among the sworn enemies of Israel?? This is not a matter of exercising faith, is playing into a pack of Lions.
