Almost four years after the IDF managed to intercept an unmanned aircraft taking off from Syrian territory in the Beit She'an area, the defense minister said that it was intended for terrorist elements in the West Bank.
In his speech, Defense Minister Gantz presented two key bases in southern Iran from which he said operations had been carried out towards the maritime space and where advanced attacking UAVs of the Shahad type are currently located.
"Iran is also operating outside the region, transferring oil and weapons to Venezuela, operating its Quds Force in South America and trying to infiltrate its influence into Afghanistan.
"In February 2018, Iran launched a 141st UAV from the T4 airport in Syria, carrying TNT explosives. The UAV intercepted near Beit She'an and its destination was, to our understanding, terrorist elements in Judea and Samaria, "said Minister Gantz at the Security-Policy Conference of the Institute of Policy and Strategy (IPS) at Reichman University.
