The head of the opposition recently told his associates that he was preparing for the latest confrontation and added: "In October I will be 73. I want to transfer the country to my successor in a solid security, economic and social situation."
Likud is preparing for the Bezeq primaries for the party leadership and the list as early as next month. The only MK who announced that he intends to run against Netanyahu for the party leadership is Yuli Edelstein. The last time there was an election for the Likud leadership at the end of 2019, Netanyahu defeated Gideon Saar and won more than 70% of the vote.
The other MKs of the Likud are expected to run in the primaries for the list to be held that day. Netanyahu wants to hold the primaries as soon as possible, in order to advance the summer holidays and launch the election campaign as soon as possible.
