Prime Minister Naftali Bennett congratulated Sunday Artem Dolgopyat for winning the finals of the men's floor exercise, netting Israel's first gold medal in the Tokyo Olympic games.

"Thank you Artem! You made history in blue and white. Enormous pride and great excitement for all the people of Israel. The Tikvah anthem will be shortly sounded in Tokyo's gym hall, and the flag of Israel will be raised high," Bennett stated.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog congratulated the achievement of the 24-year-old as well, saying: "Artem, you are a champion, you made history today! The State of Israel is proud of you!"
