Hamas, which rules the Gazans, is again complaining about empty coffers. The Deputy Minister of Finance in the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip, Oni Elbasha, stated that they are suffering from a financial crisis that will affect their ability to pay wages to employees.
According to him, the main reason for the emptying of the coffers is that the government took it upon itself to absorb the increase in the prices of several goods, mainly fuel, in order to relieve the residents which created the financial deficit.
In the absence of sufficient income, the employees' salaries this month will be cut. In recent months, Hamas has taken loans from local banks (which serve its financial needs) to pay salaries.
