ISIS Coming to Jordan ...?

Are the Iraqi government's statements that ISIS has been withdrawn from the west of the country incorrect?

In recent days, attacks by ISIS-affiliated militants in the western part of the Iraq have increased. ISIS has even stated that its people have set up "surprise checkpoints" on the main road between Baghdad and Trevil - the border crossing with Jordan. It is an important transportation and trade artery between the two countries.

The Iraqi government has denied and today ISIS is releasing a video (attached) that allegedly shows the activity of one of the checkpoints. These pictures are reminiscent of pictures from 2014 when ISIS arrested drivers and if they turned out to be Shiites they shot them on the spot.

It remains to be seen whether ISIS manages to raise its head again using the security vacuum in Iraq to get closer again to the border with Jordan.

If so - this is a significant development.
