Another gesture to Jordan: Israel will facilitate the entry of Jordanian goods into the Palestinian market
Doron Peskin, Middle East Expert 03.11.2021
The media in Jordan reports that the kingdom and Israel today signed a protocol that allows for easier entry of Jordanian goods into the Palestinian market.
The Jordanians have been arguing for years that Israel is holding back trade expansion with the Palestinians. Under the agreement, there will be easing of a list of 425 Jordanian goods for the Palestinian market and an annual value of about $500 million. The Jordanians claim that the new concessions will help strengthen trade ties between the private sector in the kingdom and that on the Palestinian side.
Jordanian exports to the Palestinian market reached about $150 million last year, but Jordanians have an export target of $700 million a year.
