Regime forces are allowing residents of the Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp to return to their homes, according to the decision of the head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, regime-supporting media outlets report.
The secretary general of the militia "Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine" (Talal Naji) said that residents of the Yarmouk camp in Damascus can enter the camp starting tomorrow unconditionally and without restrictions.
The press office of the coalition of pro-regime Palestinian resistance forces quoted "Naji" as saying that the relevant authorities had been instructed by regime president Bashar al-Assad to facilitate the return of the people (Syrians and Palestinians) to the Yarmouk camp as of September 10th, 2021.
The decision, which was passed on to the regime's institutions, was to help residents evacuate the house rubble ahead of the entry of professional bodies into the Damascus district who would clear the rubble, clean the side streets and repair the water, electricity and telephone systems.
The residents of the Yarmouk camp live in extremely difficult humanitarian conditions whilst in an unprecedented economic crisis, which has doubled due to rent and high living expenses, not to mention the spread of unemployment.
It is worth noting that the number of Palestinian families returning to the Yarmouk camp so far is less than 500, while it had a population of more than 250,000 in 2011.
Palestinian presence in Syria have changed over the past decade due to the brutal methods of Assad's rule.
