New analysis shared online shows the mapped path of the massive Hamas tunnel in Rafah, including the section where Hamas hid the body of fallen IDF soldier Hadar Goldin.
Military sources say the tunnel extends beneath the Philadelphi Axis, raising concerns that its exposure could embarrass Egypt due to its direct proximity to—if not penetration of—the Egyptian side of the border.
Observers noted that the IDF’s released map appears to cut off the lower section of the tunnel route, hinting at sensitive political implications.
According to the detailed mapping, this is only one of the major tunnels in just one neighborhood of Rafah. The known tunnel stretches roughly 7 kilometers, running under the entire Yabneh camp in Rafah, and includes multiple underground floors. Israeli military officials say that if the scale of the Yabneh tunnel is any indication, the forthcoming publication of the enormous tunnel discovered in the Shabora camp may reveal an even more extensive underground network built by Hamas.
