Patriarch Beshara al-Ra'i supports Bishop arrested for espionage

The head of the Maronite Christian community in Lebanon, Patriarch Beshara al-Ra'i, is backing his deputy, Archbishop Musa al-Hajj, and says that what he did during his visit to Israel is considered a "humanitarian activity".

The Christian cleric even added: "We said about ourselves that we are not partners (of Israel). But we will not give up our heart and we refuse to have a heart of stone." As you may recall, this week there was a big storm in Lebanon after it became clear that al-Ra'i's deputy, Musa al-Haj, was detained for questioning for several hours at the al-Nakura crossing on the Lebanese side after they were found under him Large sums of money and drugs.

The press affiliated with Hezbollah claimed that he received the funds from former SDF members who fled to Israel. While the camp opposed to Hezbollah sees its delay as political persecution on the part of the terrorist organization, Hezbollah is trying to show that the same aid it tried to bring to Lebanon is in terms of cooperation with Israel.
