The Talmud tells us that “Rabbi Hiyya the Elder and Rabbi Shimon ben Halafta were walking through the Arbel Valley at daybreak, and when they saw the first rays of dawn, Rabbi Hiyya the Elder said to Rabbi Shimon ben Halafta: Such is Israel’s redemption. At first, it comes slowly by slowly, and as it progresses its light increases”
The Regavim Movement, dedicated to the protection of Israel’s national lands and resources, shared this story on their Facebook page today, on Tisha Be'av, as the Jewish people fast and mourn, with an important message:
“ 'Slowly by slowly' – a phrase that describes the Redemption of Israel that we still await.
In our activities at Regavim, too, changes and improvements happen slowly. We are always moving step-by-step toward our main goal: protecting Israel’s resources and preserving Israeli sovereignty.
We wish all the People of Israel an easy and meaningful fast.
Together, may we rise from the ashes of destruction to the rebuilding of our Temple and strengthening of our national standing.
As the Talmud (Taanit 30b) states: 'Whoever mourns for Jerusalem, will merit and see her future joy'."
