Donors are fed up with the Palestinian Authority
Doron Peskin, Middle East Expert 10.05.2022
There are conflicting trends in the World Bank's report on the Palestinian economy. On the one hand, there was a recovery last year, largely due to the return of Palestinian workers to the Israeli market, but on the other hand the PA deficit is getting worse.
The report indicates that donor countries withdrew from the Palestinian Authority.
In 2008, foreign aid accounted for almost 30% of Palestinian GDP, but last year that share shrank to less than 2%. Last year, foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority reached $317 million, the lowest amount since 2003.
