Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in recent remarks that Iran’s ruling ayatollah regime is showing visible signs of internal weakness and could eventually weaken further or even collapse.
He argued that US policymakers must not simply wait for such a moment to arrive, but should already be shaping a clear political framework to ensure stability if and when a collapse occurs.
Pompeo stressed that Washington should actively prepare for “the day after,” emphasizing the importance of supporting segments of the Iranian public seeking change. He said American policy should include concrete plans aimed at preventing chaos and ensuring a stable outcome following any major upheaval, rather than reacting improvisedly once events are already underway.
