On his first day in the Opposition, MK Ofir Akunis submitted proposals to establish two Knesset caucuses, pending approval from the Speaker of the Knesset. MKs from multiple parties, both coalition and opposition, have signed onto these proposed caucuses.
The first caucus: "The Abraham Accords Caucus", to be chaired by MK Akunis, will advance and expand relations in all fields with Muslim countries that signed the Abraham Accords peace treaties, while encouraging additional countries to join these accords. Furthermore, the caucus will promote shared values of tolerance and religious liberty by strengthening ties with Jewish communities in these respective countries.
Additionally, The Caucus to Combat Anti-Semitism & BDS to be chaired by MK Akunis, will stand up to attacks against the legitimacy and existence of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. It will empower and cooperate with Jewish communities around the world who are on the frontlines of this battle.
MK Akunis: "As promised, we've come to the Opposition in order to work. Today, I am establishing two important caucuses that will work to promote Israel's foreign relations and her rightful place among the nations. These two caucuses will strengthen friendships with allies of Israel in parliaments and communities around the world. Through these caucuses, we will fight anti-semitism and BDS while advancing and expanding the circle of peace formed by the Abraham Accords."
