In the past month, there has been an increasing trend of violence by Palestinians in Judea and Samaria, including the Palestinian Authority elections, the olive harvest period, and the issue of security prisoners. The GSS and the IDF have launched a wave of arrests.

The main reason for the worsening security situation is a declaration of PA elections to the municipal authorities, to be held only in the West Bank and not in the Gaza Strip. This is in contrast to Hamas' position, which sharply criticized the decision in the media, distributed inciting videos against the PA and Abu Mazen, who heads it, and even threatened violent demonstrations, which could harm Israeli citizens. Despite this, the Palestinian Authority has made it clear that they have no intention of giving up on the issue.
