A nuclear reactor in Aqaba?

Khaled Toucan, chairman of the Jordan's Atomic Energy Authority, spoke at a conference in the kingdom yesterday and said that the authorities were examining a number of possible sites for the construction of a nuclear reactor in the port city of Aqaba.

According to him, the development of nuclear capability means for Jordan and other countries scientific and technological development in the field of nuclear energy, which will send a "message to the world that these countries are advanced and developed."

Toucan mentioned the nuclear reactor that has been operating in Jordan since 2016 with an output of 5 megawatts and is used mainly for research purposes. This reactor was opened in cooperation with South Korea.
