The Ayatollah regime is under pressure
Doron Peskin, Middle East Expert 24.05.2022
The Iranian government has announced a doubling of the salaries of new recruits to the Iranian army. After the update, the salary will reach a little over $100 a month.
The vast majority of conscripts serve in the army and only a minority reach elite units such as the Revolutionary Guards, where wage conditions are higher.
The timing of the wage increase is not accidental and is apparently intended to prevent the spread of public protest against the economic situation to the military as well.
