Jordanian Prime Minister Bishar al-Khawana announced today that he has fired the director of the Kingdom Pavilion at the 2020 Expo held in Dubai. Earlier it was reported that the Jordanian authorities had released the contract they had with the company operating the pavilion.
These steps have been taken in the face of a public outcry that has erupted in the kingdom in the last 24 hours. It all started with a short TV report about the pavilion during which one of the workers introduced the tourist cities in Jordan and mentioned "Amman, Aqaba and Ramallah ..." In addition, another worker talked about the "Great Arab Revolt" and claimed that it began in 1916 in Syria and ended in 1918 in Yemen.
The "ignorance" they demonstrated in the Jordanian pavilion was attacked on social media. The media in Jordan also joined the criticism, claiming that it was a "catastrophe", especially after the Jordanian prime minister arrived in Dubai and inaugurated the events marking Jordan's Independence Day in the pavilion on Friday ....
