Anwar Sadat arrived in Israel on a dramatic flight from Cairo, met with Israeli leaders, developed a deep friendship with Israeli PM Menachem Begin, and spoke in the Israeli Knesset.

Sadat became the first Arab leader to make peace with Israel. 

He paid for this with his own life when he was 4 years later assassinated by the Muslim Brotherhood.
