According to information published by the "Tactical Report" website on November 10, 2022, Egypt is in talks with China to purchase the HQ-17AE, a mobile air defense missile system, which is an export version of the Chinese-made HQ-17A.
China and Egypt established diplomatic relations 62 years ago. In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and encouraged countries along the road to cooperate with BRI.
In 2014, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi visited China and the two sides upgraded bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Then, in 2016, Egyptian President Sisi launched a new national development strategy called "Egypt Vision 2030" in which China and Egypt seek suitable areas of cooperation in the spirit of these two plans.
