On this day 73 years ago, in the midst of the Independence War and days after the establishment of the State of Israel, the order to establish an army that will defend the newly born state was issued.

With the establishment of the IDF, the Prime Minister and Defense Minister during those days - David Ben Gurion - united all Israeli forces under one roof.

73 years later, the IDF continues to defend Israel. The threats may be different, the enemies may change shape or form, but the mission of keeping the one Jewish state safe and strong will always remain the same!
