About two weeks ago, Syrian President Bashar Assad visited Tehran. Now Iran's former ambassador to Syria, Muhammad Riza Bakri, claims that for the Syrian president there was a clear destination to visit. Bakri said in an interview with a television watch in Iran that Assad sought the "personal advice" from Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, during a face-to-face meeting.
Bakri estimated that Khamenei's "personal advice" that Assad sought was around the issue of the diluting the forces affiliated with Russia in southern Syria and the implications of this move on the regime. No further details were provided.
NEWSRAEL: Even this "analysis" takes into account that the Russian forces are indeed leaving Syria for Ukraine - in contrast to Russian claims in the last days that they have not taken out troops from Syria.
