Yesterday, Sunday, the Saudi authorities announced the arrest of a number of senior military officers in the Defense and Home Affairs Ministries, including a pilot (retired) from the Royal Air Force, on corruption charges, for accepting bribes amounting to nine million rials (about $1.4 million), and a luxury car with an estimated market value of half a million reals from a local citizen.
The agency said that the Saudi citizen works for a company that is in contact with the Air Force, which paid the retired general this amount in installments in exchange for receiving approval to supply equipment to one of the Saudi Ministry of Defense's sectors.
The Saudi authorities also arrested two military personnel who worked for the General Directorate of Passports in one of the mainland ports for accepting bribes of 65,000 rials in exchange for illegal entry into the kingdom.
In the same connection, the director of supervision arrested an officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel, who works in the director general of civil defense in one of the areas, for accepting bribes of 509,000 rials in payments from two residents working in a commercial entity, in exchange for tenders for repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles and ladders. The Authority also initiated a number of other actions, including the arrest of five employees of the Ministry of Health, for stealing a sum of (9,263,900) real, which are the wages and rights of Foreign Ministry employees who left the kingdom after terminating their contracts, by transferring the rights to their bank accounts. .
The Authority has confirmed that it continues to monitor and supervise anyone who harms public funds or exploits his position for his own self-interest.
