Samia Khoury, the mother of the late Sergeant Major Amir Khoury, who was killed about a month ago in a terrorist attack in Bnei Brak, moved the audience:
"I would like to thank all the people of Israel who came from all over the country to comfort and support us in our difficult time, we appreciate it very much, we will not forget it.
My beloved Amir, my soul, my life, the joy of my life, everyone calls you a hero because you are truly a hero and brave. You did not think of yourself, all that was important to you was to save lives.
Every night I imagine you opening the door and entering the house as always. Every little noise at night I think it's you going up the stairs of the parking lot into the house. Jesus performed so many miracles and wonders, why did he not bring you back to us.
Everyone who knew Amir loved him. He made friends from all denominations, with his captivating smile that never left his lips. Amir has always been patient and tolerant and had no anger in his heart. Amir was a calm and modest man, excelling in his studies and in his service in the police. Amir loved life, loved spending time with his friends and his partner and everyone loved him. I call you an angel because you are truly an angel.
If every mother had a son like Amir, there would be peace and brotherhood throughout the world.
Amir, We love you with all our hearts and we will remember you forever.
