Ukraine’s Air Force claimed to have downed all 15 cruise missiles and 21 drones launched by Russia in an overnight strike on June 2.
Russia said its forces struck Ukraine's air defense systems protecting its "key" military infrastructure. Ukrainian President Zelensky has ordered a complete audit of bomb shelters in the capital Kyiv and across the country. Two people were killed in shelling in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, amid conflicting claims over who shelled the region.
Meanwhile, the US will reportedly offer to maintain the New START deal's nuclear weapons limits until 2026 if Russia does the same.
Zelensky says he understands Ukraine would not be able to join NATO while the war with Russia is still going on.
The British Defense Secretary said there is a "real possibility" Ukraine could retake Crimea from Russia this year. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Russia's military "as the second strongest in Ukraine" in terms of its capabilities.
