Eliraz Peretz was a Major in the IDF's Golani Brigade who was killed on March 26, 2010, during a firefight with terrorists on the Gaza border.

Eliraz's brother, Uriel, was also killed in action in 1998 in Lebanon. At Uriel's funeral, Eliraz, then only 20, eulogized his brother saying: "Sometimes there is a price to pay for the right path. The price of life."

The Peretz family was raised in the Sinai but were forced to leave after the Israeli-Egypt peace treaty and moved to Givat Ze'ev.
Miriam Peretz, their mother, is a well-known Israeli activist and educator who in 2018 received the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement.

Eliraz is survived by his wife Shlomit and four children. May his memory be blessed.
