Syrian newspaper Al-Utah has reported that Rifat al-Assad arrived in Damascus over the weekend to avoid his imprisonment in France following a judicial decision and after the confiscation of his property and money in Spain as well.

Rifat, Bashar's father's (Hafez) brother was forced to leave Syria when he was deemed dangerous to his nephew's regime.
