Hindy Cooper-Ginsberg on her mother's dream to make Aliyah and live in Israel:
"14 years ago my mother, Miriam Cooper, just missed out on fulfilling her dream of making Aliyah. As children, we’re not always aware of what things mean to our parents, but we recently discovered her Nefesh B'Nefesh Aliyah essay and I dare you not to be moved to tears.
My mother talked about how she always wanted to live in Israel, but when she got sick with ALS, she saw the profound meaning of the words of Pirkei Avot, ‘If not now, when? My mother was looking forward to living with us in Efrat where she would be able to see the holy city of Jerusalem when looking out the window.
Although none of these dreams were realized when her life was cut too short, I am profoundly grateful to be able to raise my family where she wanted to spend the end of her days and to have built a life here that I know she is proud of. "
