Tensions between US and Russia escalate: Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and the deteriorating relations between the two powers to an all-time low, friction between the two is also growing close to our border.

The Russian Air Force attacked targets this week, on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, near the a-Tanf crossing, on the border with Iraq and not far from the border with Jordan. Ba-Tanaf is home to an American military base that houses about 200 fighters, as part of the coalition's activities in Syria. The Russian military reportedly attacked targets of "local terrorists", and warned U.S. military forces in advance of the attack.
