The Israeli government decided to open schools on September 1 as initially planned, despite the morbidity wave of covid-19 hitting the country.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said in a live Facebook stream that “we reached the conclusion in the Health Ministry and the Corona Cabinet that we want to open the school year as planned.

“This will also help us to vaccinate in schools and conduct periodic screening tests as part of our fight against the pandemic,” he added.

The Director-General of the Health Ministry, Prof. Nachman Ash, said that “parents should follow instructions on conducting tests via the home-kits.
