The Reuters news agency, quoting a know-it-all source, said that a senior Sudanese envoy was visiting Israel today, Wednesday, in order to strengthen relations between the two countries.
The source, whose identity has not been revealed by the agency, said the Sudanese presidential envoy arrived in Israel earlier this week. There was no official confirmation of the news from either the Israeli government or Sudan.
Sudan is one of four Arab countries in full diplomatic relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords, signed under the auspices of the United States in the summer of 2020.
The emissaries have since traveled between Israel and Sudan, although no official agreement has yet been signed, according to Reuters.
According to the agency, the Sudanese army was seen as leading the move toward Israel, while civilian elements were more reluctant to do so.
The Sudanese army seized power in the country on October 25, ending its partnership with the civilian political parties, and forming a transitional government after the overthrow of former President Omar al-Bashir in 2019.
Reuters did not reveal the name of the Sudanese presidential envoy who visited Israel.
