A young man in his 20s threw an egg at French President Emmanuel Macron as he toured the food and restaurant industry in the city of Lyon this morning. The egg hit the president's head and later exploded on the floor.

The young man who then yelled "Long Live the Revolution" was arrested by security personnel, but the president asked to speak with him and hear his motives. In early June a demonstrator slapped Macron's cheek during a visit to the south of the country. He was sentenced to four months in prison and meanwhile released from prison.
