In the Gaza Strip, they are beginning to assess the damages from the last days of fighting. The "Palestinian Businessmen's Union" stated on Friday that the Gaza Strip suffers a daily damage of NIS 50 million every day of fighting.
In a statement published by the union, it warned against the consequences of the continued closure of the crossings (Kerem Shalom and Erez) for the fourth day in a row.
The head of the union, Ahmed Abu Ida, was quoted as saying that "continuing to close the crossings will cause direct and indirect financial losses to the Gaza economy, amounting to approximately NIS 50 million per day."
He also added that the continued closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing, the main artery for the entry of goods and food, will harm the commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors and threaten the operation of the power plant as a result of the lack of access to the fuel required for its operation.
As for the Erez checkpoint, he said that this would "increase the suffering of the patients" in the Gaza Strip and prevent large businessmen and traders from completing their transactions and economic activities.
