Almost a month after the fire in Tzur Hadassah: A Palestinian was arrested on suspicion of arson

The court extended the Palestinian's detention by two days, after he was arrested overnight by Border Police forces, but the background to his actions is still being investigated.

Border forces arrested a 34-year-old Palestinian last night (Tuesday) on suspicion of setting fire to the giant fire near the settlement of Tzur Hadassah about a month ago. The Magistrate's Court extended the detention of the man, Musa Keks, a resident of Batir near Beitar Illit. The background has not yet been determined. During the fire, a lot of environmental damage was caused and many residents were evacuated from their homes

The fire broke out in early June on the outskirts of Tzur Hadassah. Dozens of firefighters from all over the country were escorted to accompany them in an attempt to gain control of its spread. The fire spread over about 50 dunams, and approached the houses of the valley neighborhoods, streets, crocus and ridges - which led to the evacuation of 400 families to a sports hall in the locality.

A day later, another fire broke out in this area and was extinguished after the activities of the fire brigade. The suspicion that the fire was deliberately set on fire was established shortly after the incident.
