The daughter of former president Rafsanjani accuses Iran of genocide in Yemen and Syria

Muhsan Hashemi, the son of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, former president of Iran, described in an interview his father's death as "suspicious", saying the regime strives to show that the death was natural.

Hashemi Rafsanjani's son added that the National Security Council in Iran had conducted a "superficial" investigation into the matter.

In an interview with Etimed Online, he said that there is no (conclusive) evidence for his father's assassination, but there is also no evidence of a natural death and "we are swinging between each other."

Muhsin Hashemi added that doctors said there was no sign of any illness from his father, and bodyguards said he had a mild but regular pulse, but a doctor at the hospital said "he had no pulse and was almost without vital signs".

Without providing any explanation, Hashemi said the word "almost" in the comment was suspicious.

The son of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani confirmed that the issue of his father's autopsy after his death was never raised in the family, and if a decision is made, the autopsy is still possible using special devices and without removing the body from the grave.

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was reported to have died on January 8, 2017, at the age of 82, and was said to have died while swimming in a pool.

Earlier, members of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's family assumed he had been assassinated, and his daughter Fatima Hashemi said in 2018 that she was convinced her father's name was unnatural.

She further said that "a significant amount of radioactivity was found" in the towel in which her father was taken to the hospital.

Muhammad Hashemi, the brother of Hashemi Rafsanjani, said that according to medical reports, it is not clear why he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in the swimming pool and that no detailed report on the matter was given by his doctors.

Masia Mohajeri, the editor-in-chief of the Islamic Jumhuri newspaper, also alluded to Yahya Rahim Safawi, the former commander of the Revolutionary Guards, who said that Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani had informed him that he knew of a plan to assassinate several Iranian officials.
