Is Israel Moving Toward the Point of No-Return?

For over two years, we’ve been fighting the illegal Palestinian takeover of Area C in western Samaria, between the community of Peduel and Route 5. The Palestinian invaders from the nearby village of al-Dik began the takeover by working the land, planting vineyards, paving new roads and creating new structures, essentially establishing a new village.
Some of the construction projects are being carried out on survey lands – or, in other words, state lands where full registration is yet to be completed. And some projects are right next to the archeological site of biblical Tzereda (Khirbet Bint-Bar) – an ancient fortress that dates back to the 10th century BCE and is identified as the city of Jeroboam ben Navat, the first king of Israel.
Last week, we told you that the Court rejected our petition against the illegal construction projects at the site. However, the judge was also harshly critical of the CA, issuing a warning before a “red card” is pulled out.
In an interview with Besheva (in Hebrew), our Director of Operations, Yakhin Zik, explained why the ongoing takeover near Peduel is an embarrassment, and how it showcases the incompetence of the Civil Administration with regard to enforcement in Judea and Samaria.
In the battle for Area C, Israel is moving toward a point of no-return. We must wake up – before it’s too late.
