Secret talks between Mansour Abbas and Rabbi Druckman, one of the main Rabbis of the National Religious (including the Judea and Samaria Jewish residents)
In conversations between the two, Rabbi Druckman turned to Abbas and offered him: "A public announcement that the Land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel, and that it is also written in the Qur'an."
Abbas objected and replied, "If I say such a thing now, my life is in danger."
Druckman continued: "Then say that Israel is Jewish and democratic." Abbas offered to wait: "I will say, but not now. We have to wait for a suitable time."
Rabbi Druckman was still troubled by the fear that Ra'am was using double language when it came to terrorism.
A few hours later, a Palestinian terrorist shot and killed a yeshiva student at the Tapuach junction in Samaria - and Abbas issued a statement condemning:
"I unequivocally oppose any harm to innocent people and call for the preservation of human life and the hope that we can live together in peace."
With this he gave hope that it is possible to live together in peace. "The announcement was apparently a coordinated public test between Rabbi Druckman and Mansour Abbas, who asked in closed conversations:
In "Ra'am" there are two factions. Help me defeat the faction of Ibrahim Tsarzur (the one who opposes cooperation)."
