King of Morocco congratulates Bennett, just before Hamas visit to Morocco

The King of Morocco, The Sixth Muhammad had congratulated newly appointed Israeli PM as Hamas delegation, affiliated with Ismail Haniyya, visit is planned to visit to Morocco.

The king emphasized in the letter, "Morocco is interested in contuining to continue its active role and its efforts to facilitate long term peace in the Middle East, for all the nations of the region to live side by side, peacefully, stability and in harmony."

Naftali Bennett had thanked the Moroccan King and said in a statement that his coalition is "determined to strengthen Israel-Morocco relations in every area." He added, "Israel sees Morocco as a friendly country and an important partner in the peace efforts in the region."

Morocco is the fourth muslim country to revive its diplomatic relations with Israel last year with former US President Donald Trump, with the US acknowledgement of Morocco's sovereighty over West Sahara that was controversial.

On Wednesday a Hamas delegation is arriving to Morocco, tied to Ismail Haniyya to meet with the Justice and Development party, the coalition leader in Morocco, which is ideologically close with Hamas.

Since the normalization of relations between Israel and Morocco, King of Morocco, who is part of the Al Quds Committee, had approved the "strong stance of the kingdom" in support of the two state solution, and emphasized that negotiations is the only way to acheive a settlement. Morocco's foreign ministry rehashed this position during 'Guardian of the Walls' operation in May.

The Stance of the Moroccan PM Vs the King on the Subject of Israel

The Moroccan prime minister, who signed the normalization agreement with Israel, congratulated Hamas on the "victory of the resistance."

Although the Prime Minister of Morocco is hostile to Israel, the true leader of Morocco is the king- and the King's position is very different.

In September 2018, the king said "Antisemitism is the antithesis of freedom of expression, because it implies the denial of the other," and called for teaching the history of Morocco, including its "darkest hours" - hinting at the Holocaust.

In recent years, by order of the King, Morocco has signed cooperation agreements on educational projects with international organizations that devote their time to the commemoration of the Holocaust. The King of Morocco also stressed that Jews and Christians living in the kingdom should enjoy equal rights and freedom of worship.

Morocco Hopes for Israeli Tourism Boost when Flights Resume Morocco hopes its improved ties with Israel and centuries-old Jewish history will help it offset some of the tourist trade it has lost to the global pandemic by bringing a surge of Israeli visitors once flights restart next month. The two countries agreed in December to resume diplomatic ties and relaunch direct flights - part of a deal brokered by the United States. Morocco was home to one of the largest and most prosperous Jewish communities in North Africa and the Middle East for centuries until Israel's founding in 1948. As Jews fled or were expelled from many Arab countries, an estimated quarter of a million left Morocco for Israel from 1948-1964. Today only about 3,000 Jews remain in Morocco, while hundreds of thousands of Israelis claim some Moroccan ancestry. Though a small number of Israeli tourists have already come to Morocco, many have been put off by the lack of direct flights and diplomatic ties. The head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, which reopened after the deal, said he expected flights to resume next month. Source: Reuters, ?Walla News ?? IF YOU LOVE ISRAEL - SHARE NEWSRAEL

First Israeli Book is Translated and Published in Morocco For the first time, an Israeli novel has been translated into Arabic in Morocco and will be sold in Moroccan bookstores. The groundbreaking novel, A Girl in a Blue Shirt, was written by Prof. Gabriel Bensimhon of the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University. The novel, published by Yediot Books in 2013, tells the love story of an immigrant boy from Morocco and an Israeli-born girl who is in love with a Holocaust survivor. It takes place against the background of the early years of the State of Israel and the influx of immigrants from Morocco. The book was chosen for translation by Prof. Mohamed Elmedlaoui of the Mohammed V University of Rabat and was translated by his student, Dr. Ayashi Eladraoui. “I grew up in the town of Sefrou in Morocco until I immigrated to Israel at the age of 10,” recounted Bensimhon. “As an academic, I have studied Moroccan culture extensively. There was always a warm corner in my heart for the rich and multifaceted aspects that characterize the Moroccan culture. As a Moroccan Jew, I feel that I have come to realize a dream: the fact that my works are read in my hometown is a source of great personal pride.” Source: Israel21C ?? Trump Receives Award for Morocco-Israel Normalization Deal US President Donald Trump today (Friday) received Morocco's highest award for his work in advancing a normalization deal between Israel and Morocco. In a private Oval Office ceremony, Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui, who is Morocco's ambassador to the United States, gave Trump the Order of Muhammad, an award given only to heads of state. It was a gift from Morocco's King Mohammed VI. White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Avi Berkowitz received other awards for their work on the Israel-Morocco deal, which was reached in December. The United States in the last five months helped broker deals between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. The agreements are aimed at normalizing relations and opening economic ties. Trump, who leaves office on Wednesday, has drawn some criticism over the Morocco agreement because to seal the deal, he agreed that the United States would recognize Morocco's sovereignty over the Western Sahara. The Western Sahara has been the site of a decades-old territorial dispute between Morocco and the Algeria-backed Polisario Front, a breakaway movement that seeks to establish an independent state in the territory. Israelis Look Forward to Visiting Morocco Morocco is a very special place. On the one hand, the most northwestern country in the African continent offers all the good that there is in this continent in general and in the Arab countries that inhabit it in particular. On the other hand, its proximity to Europe (less than 15 kilometers of sea separating Morocco from the tip of Europe) has imbued this monarchy with significant external influences and today Morocco is a great combination of cultures: including Jewish culture. The second-largest city in Morocco (after Casablanca) is particularly rich in Jewish history. Maimonides lived there for a time, and tourists can visit his former house. In Fez, there is also an ancient and large Jewish cemetery and a beautiful synagogue located in Malach, the Jewish Quarter. Source: Walla News ?? IF YOU LOVE ISRAEL - SHARE NEWSRAEL! ??
