Supreme Court President Hayut and senior judges will be required to decide in a petition seeking to determine that Netanyahu cannot form the government following the indictments against him, if he wins the March election. In response to the petition, Netanyahu stated that "only the people will decide," while the Supreme Court refrained from submitting an opinion on the matter. Avichai Mandelblit has so far argued that there is currently no justification for deciding on a legal question, since as long as Netanyahu does not win the election, it is a theoretical question that may not arise.
