Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he believes US President Donald Trump will recognize the annexation of settlements in Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley in the coming months. Netanyahu noted that Trump has pledged to recognize Israeli sovereignty over Jewish communities in these areas, saying he is "convinced that in a few months the commitment will be honored and that we can celebrate another historic moment."
Netanyahu's remarks come after the agreement signed with Blue-White Chairman Benny Gantz to form a government, which includes annexation issue.
US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo welcomed the establishment of the impending government, and in reference to agreement signed between Netanyahu and Gantz, said that annexing the West Bank is "Israel's decision." He said, "The Israelis are the ones who will make these decisions. We will work closely to share our views with them.”
In response, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas warned that if Israel annexed any part of the West Bank - the Palestinian Authority would see the agreement with the United States as null and void. Abbas added "we will not stand back if Israel will announce the annexation of any part of our country.”
