Threats on the Attorney General Attorney General Avihai Mandelblit gave testimony Wednesday to Israeli police investigators for dozens of threats and harassment he received. These threats include text messages on his phone, among them threats such as "We'll get you and your kids", as well as pictures of him in prisoner uniform. A statement from the attorney general said that "these harassments and threats, apparently organized, continued throughout the night and early morning hours. The harassment included threats, hate speeche and incitement." The threats on the Attorney General are coming towards the opening of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trial, following Mendelblit's decision to indict him for bribery, fraud and breach of trust. They also come in the as a result of the confrontation between him and the Deputy State Attorney, after he announced last week that he will assume the administrative positions of the State Attorney. Orit Korin, the chair of Israel's Bar Association, called the threats a "crossing of all red lines," adding that "I expect elected officials to make their voices heard loud and clear before blood is shed."
